Office and Administrative Manager

Summary:
Under supervision of the Director of Programs and Operations, manage overall administrative functions by providing support and management to the Center’s main office. Provide general supervision for administrative staff, volunteer staff and guest services. Serve as a member of the management team to review and establish policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility, including Administrative Operations and Public Relations/Guest Services.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and provide the day-to-day administrative and clerical support activities of the office and supervise support staff and/or volunteer staff, as appropriate. Serve as the point of contact for the general public, answering phones and visitor communications. Provide office communication and correspondence, scheduling and maintaining calendars and day-to-day public relations.
  • Ensure compliance of the Center’s Administrative functions with local, state and federal policies and regulations and act as an Ambassador for the Center and its mission.
  • Participate as required in planning and managing events, receptions, previews and special groups, providing follow-up communication and reports.
  • Assist as requested with Development activities and management of marketing and public relations and related materials, including presentations, newsletters, staff communication and press releases.
  • Manage the guest services team and administrative activities including, volunteer staff onboarding, training and scheduling, merchandising and inventory management, and operations for maintaining visitor amenities. In addition, oversee cash management within the Guest Service team.
  • Manage website and social media content; oversee / perform webmaster functions.
  • Serve as support to the Board of Directors as needed. Coordinate timely receipt of Board agenda items, manage follow-up activities, plan and coordinate Board retreats, maintain Board Handbook, ensure that new Board members receive appropriate orientation and support materials.
  • Serve as Coordinator for staff and volunteer staff members, including planning and coordinating volunteer staff meetings, quarterly training activities and specialized workshops.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Bird Staff/Educator

Summary:
Under general supervision of the Education Department Manager, participate in the care, training and utilization of the resident educational birds and conduct educational programs in accordance with CBP standards and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination and performance of all aspects of basic husbandry and routine care for the resident birds.
  • Perform all educational program duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and act as an Ambassador for the Center and its mission.
  • Oversee and advise on the use, control and maintenance of husbandry facilities, supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the coordination and supervision of volunteer bird staff activities and conduct training in the proper care, treatment, and utilization of birds for educational purposes.
  • Assist in the training of working birds and developing educational presentations as needed.
  • Present or assist in the presentation of on-site and off-site programs.
  • Supports the Captive Breeding program on a seasonal basis as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong Public Speaking skills
  • Must be able to work outside during all seasons
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Weekend, evening and holiday work required

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the areas of environmental education and/or avian husbandry and/or training.

Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor

Summary:
Maintain the facilities and grounds of the Avian Conservation Center/ The Center for Birds of Prey in accordance with ACC/CBP standards and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain all landscaped areas of the ACC Campus including (but not limited to):
    • Regular turf-grass management (weekly cutting during the growing season)
    • Pruning and limbing of trees and shrubs
    • Weed control
    • Pest Control
  • Conduct regular building and facilities maintenance in accordance with ACC/CBP maintenance plan
  • Conduct routine repairs on ACC/CBP assets including buildings and equipment
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance tasks with outside vendors when necessary
  • Assess all campus grounds and facilities for maintenance and repair needs
  • Maintain all roadways on the ACC Campus
  • Maintain and repair equipment utilized in Campus maintenance and daily operations
    • Golf cart maintenance experience is desirable
    • Small engine repair experience is desirable
    • Plumbing and electrical experience is desirable
  • Oversee and advise staff and volunteer staff on the use, control and maintenance of landscaping supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the coordination and supervision of volunteer grounds staff activities and conduct training in the proper care, treatment, and utilization of tools and equipment for campus maintenance.
